Cross shaft part number 35659 is being discontinued. This is the model 44 cross shaft that
contains two snap ring grooves and is retained in the differential case by two snap rings. It is a
component part of inner parts kits 706026X and 706926X. These kits will also be discontinued
when current inventories are depleted. This cross shaft was originally used in differential case
assemblies that were not drilled to accept a cross shaft lock. All examples that I have found are
Trac-Lok

®

differentials.

Most differential cases that use the inner parts kits mentioned above are also drilled for a cross
shaft lock. If the case that you are servicing calls for a 706026X inner parts kit, and it is drilled
for a cross shaft lock, you can use kit number 707099X. This kit is identical to the 706026X kit
except it uses a cross shaft and lock designed for use in a cross drilled case. If the case that
you are servicing is not drilled for a cross shaft lock, you will need to replace the entire case
assembly.

If the case that you are servicing calls for a 706926X inner parts kit, and it is drilled for a cross
shaft lock, you can use kit number 707149X. This kit is identical to the 706926X kit except it
uses a cross shaft and lock designed for use in a cross drilled case. If the case that you are
servicing is not drilled for a cross shaft lock, you will need to replace the entire case assembly.
