SAE
Attaching driveshafts to various transmissions and
axle assemblies calls for different types of connec-
tions. The following types (ISO standard) are avai-
lable:
Positive engagement:
•
X-serration (XS) – corresponding to ISO 8667
for gearbox flanges and ISO 12667 for
driveshaft flanges
•
Friction type – DIN and SAE connection
on request
•
DIN, corresponding to ISO 7646
•
SAE, corresponding to ISO 7647
The XS flange is the preferred flange because of its
technical and economical advantages, including:

International standardisation
•
Fewer variants
•
Form fi tting
•
Clearly defi ned mounting position
•
Less time required for assembly
•
Simplifi ed bolting
