Component Repair Procedure

Pneumatic Control Unit - Trailer Module Cover Replacement - Kit 218736

The following procedures describe the necessary work required for removal and replacement of the Dana Tire Pressure
Control System Pneumatic Control Unit (KU) trailer module solenoid cover. Work can be conducted with pneumatic
control unit installed in vehicle if accessible. If removal of unit is required, follow removal procedures in Dana TPCS
Service Manual (AXSM-0010).

1.

If pneumatic control unit ts installed in vehicle, remove 10 wire and 3 wire electrical connectors from unit.

2.

Remove 6 solenoid cover screws (3c) and 4 trailer module solenoid cover screws (7c).

3.

Lift solenoid cover(3a) and trailer module cover (7a) together to clear solenoids.

4.

Remove 2 wires (labeled A & K) leading from trailer solenoid to solenoid cover. To remove wires, use small
screw driver or object such as paper clip to push on tab within electrical pin while pulling on wire. See detail
on reverse side.

5.

Install new gasket provided on new trailer module cover by removing adhesive cover and “sticking” to base of
cover.

6.

Remove o-ring from existing cover and replace on new cover.

7.

Install 2 wires from trailer module to solenoid cover per wiring schematic on attached sheet. Verify that both
pins “snap” into cover and do not easily pull out. If pin does not snap into cover, bend tab on pin and reinsert.

8.

Carefully tuck solenoid wires in area between transducer and solenoids while reinstalling the solenoid cover.
Note: It is necessary to install both covers at the same time.

9.

Carefully tighten cover screws ensuring that wires are not pinched between cover and body. Torque spec = 40
to 50 in-lb.

10.

Reinstall pneumatic control unit in vehicle or reinstall electrical connectors to solenoid cover if unit is already
in vehicle.

11.

Conduct system checkout to verify integrity of repairs.
