HI-LIFT HOOD MOUNT

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WAR 1540/1541 76-06 CJ & Wrangler

IMPORTANT: Before installing this kit take into consideration that over time these brackets may wear the paint on your
hood hinges. If you are concerned with preserving the paint, we recommend purchasing some thin rubber gasket material
and making gaskets for the brackets.

A standard 48” Hi-Lift Jack is recommended for use with this kit.

This kit also contains provisions for a long shank padlock to be used to secure your jack. Padlocks are not included, and
must be purchased separately.

INSTALLATION - Phase 1: Installing Brackets onto Jeep

1. Start by removing the front-most Torx head bolt from the hood hinge. These will be tough to break loose the very

first time. Ensure you have the proper size Torx and that it is in good condition. Hold your ratchet head down on
the bolt firmly when loosening. Once it is broken loose the first time, it will be easy from there on out.

2. Install one of the 1540 brackets onto that front bolt hole using one of the supplied Allen head bolts and leave loose.
3. Remove the other two Torx bolts.
4. Swivel bracket into place and begin threading the other two supplied Allen head bolts. Leave the bolts loose.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 on the other side.
6. Install the Hi Lift Jack over the studs, making sure that the jack goes all the way down on the brackets. You need to

move the bracket in or out. Snug the 6 bolts down, remove the jack and tighten all 6 bolts. Be careful not to over-
tighten to the point that you might strip the head of the screws.

INSTALLATION - Phase 2: Installing Jack onto Brackets

1. Locate the 1543 Jack Handle Strap. Use this Velcro strap to securely hold your jack handle to the jack’s body. Get

this strap as tight as you can. If done properly, your jack handle should never rattle.

2. Set the jack onto the brackets so that the brackets’ studs are pointing through the holes in the body of the jack.
3. Place the supplied U-Strap Brackets over the stud so that they wrap around the body of the jack.
4. Using the supplied plastic wing nuts, securely tighten the jack into place. You should be able to get these plenty

tight enough by hand. We do not suggest using tools or pliers of any sort on these wing nuts.

5. If you are choosing to padlock your jack into place, you should now be able to slide a long shank padlock up

through the holes in the bracket that are next to the main pins on the bracket. Both brackets have this hole, but you
should only need to padlock one side.

6. Installation is complete. Be sure to monitor the plastic wing nuts on your brackets to ensure that they are staying

tight.
