SUBJECT: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 3700 Series FJ Cruiser Rock Bars

Before Beginning: These Rock Bars were designed around a 2008 model with pre-existing threaded holes in the
frame. On any model that may not have these provisions, holes can be drilled and 3/8” self-tapping bolts can be
used to install.

1. Identify your passenger and driver side bars. The larger mount plate on each bar is your front leg. The

rear plate has a small hex nut welded to it. You can identify the top of the bars by this nut if you do not
have a version with step inserts. This nut is on the top side of the plate.

2. Unbolt the parking brake line that is secured to the frame near the location where the rear leg will mount.

There is one on each side. Discard the bolt, it will not be re-used.

3. Both passenger and driver side bars will install in the same fashion; with one difference on the passenger

side bar. On some vehicles the rear-most hole of the front bracket may not have a pre-threaded insert in
it. If your vehicle does not, we have supplied a 5/16” x 5/8” well nut. Drill this hole out to 5/8” and insert
the well nut into the hole.

4. Hold the bars into place and use the supplied 8mm bolts with a lock washer and flat washer to bolt the

bars into place. In the location where the 5/16” well nut was installed, use the supplied 5/16” bolt with
lock washer and flat washer.

5. Tighten all bolts to secure rock bars in place.
6. You should now have two remaining _” long bolts in your kit. Use these to secure the brake line bracket

removed in step 2 to the hex nut welded on the rear mount plate.

This completes your installation.
