7. Operation

Refer to the illustrations on page 2 of this manual.
• The VDPLS2701 can work stand-alone with fixed colour output or controlled by an external DMX-controller

(not incl.).

• The VDPLS2701 in master mode generates DMX values on the DMX output [6]. Linked devices will follow the

behaviour of the master when they are placed in slave mode.

a) Colour mode “C” (master)
• Press the MODE selection button [1] until the first digit of display [4] shows “C”.

• Use the UP [2] or DOWN button [3] to select all-off or one of the twelve preset colours (see table below).

• The selected setting is automatically stored in memory.
b) Slave mode “SLA”
• Press the MODE selection button [1] until the display [4] shows “SLA”. This sets the unit’s DMX channel to

001.

• While a DMX signal is received, an LED on the lower right will be on.

• Slave mode can also be used fro remotely controlling the unit if no specific DMX address is required and

channels 001~003 can be used as default.

c) DMX mode “d”
• Press the MODE selection button [1] until the display [4] shows “d”. After a few seconds, the display will

show the DMX starting address.

• All DMX-controlled devices need a digital start address so that the correct device responds to the signals. This

digital start address is the channel number from which the device starts to “listen” to the DMX controller. The

same starting address can be used for a whole group of devices or an individual address can be set for every
device.

• When all devices have the same address, all the units will “listen” to the control signal on one particular

channel. In other words: changing the settings of one channel will affect all devices simultaneously. If you set
individual addresses, each device will “listen” to a separate channel number. Changing the settings of one

channel will only affect the device in question.

• In case of the 5-channel VDPLS2701, you will have to set the start address of the first unit to 001 (CH1~4),

the second unit to 006 (1 + 5) (CH5~8), the third to 011 (6 + 5) (CH9~12), and so on.

• Use the UP [2] or DOWN button [3] to select a DMX starting address. After selecting, it takes ± 3 seconds

before the address becomes active. The display shows alternately the address and “d”.

• The selected address is automatically stored in memory.

• While a DMX-signal is received, an LED on the lower right will be on.

• The unit receives DMX values in a packet of 5 channels and mirrors this data on the DMX output [6]:
