Model 2806 77 Channel

CATV Limited Distance Solution (LDS) transmitter is part of a
low cost system for transferring up to 77 channels of
VSB/AM modulated signals over a single-mode optical fiber.
The system provides 40-550 MHz of usable bandwidth for
video signals stacked at 6 MHz intervals. A low loss single-
mode optical fiber allows full channel loading to beyond 10
km while maintaining a good carrier-to-noise ratio. Because
of its relatively small size, the Model 2806 can be mounted
almost anywhere, and it is a true plug-and-play system when
used with its companion receiver, Model 2809. Together, this
link provides excellent performance for many demanding
applications such as broadband LANs, distance learning,
and multiple data services.

Features
• Transmits up to 77 channels over one single-

mode fiber.

• VSB/AM transmission ensures compatibility with

standard CATV modulators, processors, etc.

• Designed for distances up to 10 km, Model 2806

offers an optical output power of +4.5 dBm.

• The convenient compact (3” x 8.5”) enclosure is

one of the smallest in the CATV industry.

• Built-in, universal AC power supply frees system

user from bulky wall-mount AC adapters.

• Excellent for low budget structured in-building

premise wiring video applications.

77 Channel Limited

Distance Solution (LDS) CATV Receiver creates a low-cost
system for transporting 77 channels of VSB/AM modulated
signals over a single-mode optical fiber. The model 2809,
working with the Model 2806 LDS transmitter, provides
excellent performance up to 10 km with full channel loading,
high sensitivity, and 550 MHz of usable bandwidth. With a
wide optical input range of -8.0 to +4.5 dBm and 20 dBmV of
RF output, the Model 2809 allows excellent performance for
intra-facility limited distance applications, such as corporate
CATV delivery and FTTX where cost, small size, and perfor-
mance are major considerations. This low-cost system
allows CATV providers with the ability to provide a reliable
limited distance fiber optic video distribution system.

Features
• Wide bandwidth of 40 to 550 MHz accommo-

dates up to 77 channels on all models.

• Provides excellent picture quality with a CNR up

to 54.5 dB, CSO of -63, and CTB of -66 dBm.

• Low profile, rugged package allows great system

installation flexibility.

• Wide optical input range of -8 dBm to +4.5 dBm

permits the use of lower power transmitter, low-
ering system cost.

• Excellent for HFC, short-haul, intra-facility, and

FTTX video distribution.
