Put iPhone in the dock.
To play music through external speakers:

Connect speakers with an audio cable that has
a standard 3.5 millimeter stereo miniplug to the
Line Out port on the back of the dock.

Connect iPhone and play a song.

with an Apple USB Power Adapter or a high-
power USB port on another device that is
compliant with the USB 2.0 or 1.1 standards,

iPhone” logo.
