Ingalls Stiffy ™ Engine Torque Damper For 2005-2006 Acura RSX Type S

The Stiffy™ Adjustable Engine Torque Damper is engineered to reduce deflection under hard acceleration

and cornering for improved performance and power to weight transfer. Deflection in the motor mounts, as with the
chassis and suspension, is a formidable enemy in power and weight transfer, robbing valuable horsepower and
control. The innovative, built-in damper eliminates the huge amounts of “torque shock” that result from wheel-hop
and once installed; transfers more power to the road and improves acceleration, shifting, overall control and balance.
The adjustable feature allows the assembly to be tuned and pre-loaded for racing and street applications.

CAUTION: Observe proper safety and repair procedures for installation of all chassis parts. Some chassis parts require specialized tools and experience and
therefore MUST be installed by a qualified technician otherwise an unsafe vehicle and/or personal injury could result. Wear safety glasses and other protection.
WARNING: Before beginning, check for any damaged or loose suspension connections. Loose connections here indicate worn or broken parts which MUST
BE REPLACED. Failure to replace a damaged or worn spindle and/or link may cause the wheel to separate from the vehicle, possibly resulting in serious
personal injury. Installer MUST check for proper clearance. Modification(s) may be required. Please proceed ONLY if the vehicle owner is completely aware of
these potential suspension modifications.

Installation:

Note: Removing the power steering line at the power steering pump will ease installation, but it is not required
for fitment. If you do remove the power steering line from the pump, you will need to bleed any air out of the
power steering system by rotating the steering wheel while the vehicle is running and the power steering
reservoir cap loose or removed. Check for interference between the power steering hose and the engine torque
damper. It may be necessary to wrap the power steering hose at the interference point with heater hose and
secure it with a plastic wire tie. Gaining clearance by bending the metal line at the steering pump is not
recommended.

1. Under the hood, locate the passenger’s side upper strut mount and remove the three M8 nuts (13mm HEX) that

secure the strut tower brace. Lift strut tower brace and fit Chassis Mounting Bracket onto strut tower as shown in
Illustration 1. Be sure to use the two medium sized washers on the unused stud to level the mounting surface for
the strut tower brace. Secure strut tower brace and Chassis Mounting Bracket using OEM M8 nuts. Note: You
may need to modify some aftermarket strut tower braces for proper fitment.

2. Locate passenger’s side engine mount and remove only the gold colored forward most M12 (17mm HEX) stud

from the engine mount. Place 12mm washer over the stud and on top of the rearward engine mount nut as
shown in Illustration 2. Note: Do not remove the rearward engine mount nut.

3. Fit Engine Mounting Bracket onto the passenger’s side engine mount and secure using the OEM M12 stud on

the forward mounting point and the supplied M12 nut (19mm HEX) on the rearward stud. Note: The Engine
Mounting Bracket will only fit one way onto the engine mount.
