Connecting the Management Port

To use the remote interfaces, you must connect the

Management Port to the network.

To connect the iBypass Switch Management Port:
1. Connect a CAT5e cable to the Management Port.

2. Connect the other end to a network switch or hub.

Using Web Manager

You can manage and monitor the iBypass switch from any

computer with an Internet browser and access to the iBypass

switchs’ IP address. To access Web Manager, type the IP address

in the URL text box and press Enter.

Planning Configuration

To enable the remote features of the iBypass switch, you must

assign an IP address to the switch. If you are installing multiple

iBypass switches, determine the IP address range, netmask, and

gateway, if required, before beginning the installation.

Configuring the iBypass Switch

All configuration options, status, and statistics are accessible

from the Command Line Interface (CLI). To get started with the

iBypass switch, you must set an IP address with the CLI.
Do the following to configure the IP addresses of the iBypass

switch using the CLI:
1. Connect a PC to the iBypass switch using the RS232 DB-9

cable. Ensure that the PC has a terminal emulation software

already installed.

2. Launch terminal emulation software such as HyperTerminal

and set communication parameters to:

19200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit

3. Connect power to the iBypass switch.
4. At the login prompt, type netoptics and at the password

prompt, type netoptics.

5. Use the set username and set password commands to

change the username and password.

6. Set the iBypass switch IP address by typing:

set ip <ip address>
where <ip address> is the IP address of the iBypass.

7. Set the iBypass switch gateway by typing:

set gateway <ip address>
where <ip address> is the gateway address.

8. Set the iBypass switch netmask by typing:

set netmask <ip address>
where <ip address> is the netmask.
