Optical Disc Drive Firmware Upgrade Guide
Follow the instructions below to identify the model of your optical disc drive and upgrade its firmware.
To Identify the ODD model
For Windows XP:
1.
Double-click System in the Control Panel.
2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
3. Click the “+” sign before the item DVD/CD-ROM drives, and note down the ODD model, for example:
MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AS ATA Device.
For Windows Vista / Windows 7:
1.
Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click Device Manager in the left pane.
3. Click the “+” sign before the item DVD/CD-ROM drives, and note down the ODD model, for example:
MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AS ATA Device.
To upgrade ODD firmware
1. Download the corresponding ODD firmware in the following address:
Notebook models: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=ODD%20FM.
Desktop models: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=ODD%20Firmware&Slanguage=
en-us
2. Double-click the downloaded executable file to upgrade ODD firmware.
