2000-2010 GM – Large SUV Air Shock Conversion

Air Shock Replacement

WARNING: The air suspension system is under pressure (up to 10
bar, or 150 lbf/sq. in). Do not allow dirt or grease to enter the
system. Always wear standard protective hand, ear, and eye
protection when servicing the air suspension system.

Removal

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist or with proper lifting equipment.

Suspension must be at full rebound with no load.

WARNING: Always support the chassis on safety stands. Refer to
your vehicle’s Owner’s Manual for correct lifting instructions.

2. Remove both rear tires.
3. Deflate both rear air shocks by disconnecting the air lines

leading from the compressor assembly to the rear air shocks.

4. Using a floor jack, slightly raise the rear axle to relieve the

pressure from the upper and lower shock bolts.

5.

Disconnect dampening sensor lead.

6. Loosen and remove the upper and lower shock bolts.

7. Carefully remove the old shock absorber from the vehicle's

suspension.

Installation

1. Install the shock absorber’s retaining nuts and bolts to the

real axle. Tighten the shock absorber’s retaining nuts and

bolts to manufactures specifications.

2. Reattach dampening sensor lead.

3. Remove rear axle support.

4. Replace both rear tires and wheels. Tighten wheel hub bolt nuts

to manufacture specifications. Remove all safety stands and lower vechicle.

WARNING: Make sure to tighten all wheel hub bolt nuts to manfacture specification.

Failure to heed this warning could result in serious bodily and vehicular damage.
