Xylem I SA25A 15 B McDonnell & Miller No. 25A Make-up Water Feeder - Manual

1. Turn off water supply to feeder. Make sure by-
pass valve is closed. Drain tank so water level
is below float chamber. Be cautious - drained
water and feeder may be hot.
2. Remove four screws (A) and remove valve
and strainer assemblies. Move volve and
strainer assemblies to a work bench for further
disassembly operations.
3. With a socket attachment screwdriver bit,
unscrew the valve seat and remove it. Once the
valve seat is removed, the valve stem assembly
will slide out freely.
4. Clean the valve assembly housing thoroughly.
5. Insert the new valve stem assembly into the
valve housing.
6. Carefully screw the new valve seat into position
and tighten securely.
7. Clean strainer.
8. Remove the old gasket and clean the gasket
surface on two bolt flange on the strainer and
valve housing.
9. Re-assemble strainer assembly to the valve
assembly using a new gasket and two screws
(B). Tighten screws to secure.
10. Remove the old gasket and clean the gasket
surface on the 4 bolt flange surface on the valve
assembly housing and head casting.
11. Place the new gasket over the “U” shaped fork
mechanism in the head assembly.
12. Position the stem assembly in the vale assembly
by looking through the outlet connection so that
the “U” shaped fork in the head casting aligns
and engages the roller bearing in the center of
the stem in the valve assembly.
Align holes in the valve assembly, gasket, and
head casting. Assemble using four screws (A)
and secure tightly.
13. Reconnect water supply pipes to inlet of strainer
casting and outlet of valve assembly, open
water supply valve and close tank drain valve.
14. Check operation of feeder before placing
system into operation.
