The Mini UPS & Power Sensor (MUPS) is a unique sensor/UPS combination that detects loss of main

power while providing seamless battery backup power for approximately fifteen (15) minutes or more

beyond loss of power. Total run time depends upon the power draw of the supported AVTECH environment

monitor or other 5V device. A power adapter connects it to the power circuit being monitored. A Power

Sensor output connects to an available switch sensor input on Room Alert so alarm notifications can be sent

when main power is lost. The Power Sensor has a normal switch state of ‘closed’ which means that if the

circuit opens then an alarm will be generated by Room Alert.

Connect the provided sensor cable to the terminal block on the Power Sensor. Then, run the sensor cable to the

Room Alert ID Box and connect the wire to the contacts for a single switch sensor. Next, connect the power

adapter to the input socket on the Power Sensor. Finally, plug the power adapter into the power source being

monitored. To activate the built-in battery backup (UPS), push the red button next to the power input jack. With

this configuration, an alarm will be generated if main power to the room is lost or disrupted.

To test the Power Sensor, turn off the power source or unplug the connected power adapter. Loss of power

will be recognized by the Room Alert ID Box and it will generate an alarm condition or status. A status

LED will be seen when main power is present and will turn red when running on battery backup power.

Managers should test the Power Sensor on a regular basis to ensure the Power Sensor is fully operational.

Sensor cable can be any low voltage cable such as bell wire, speaker cable, data cable or telephone cable.

Minimum voltage insulation 50v, minimum current carrying capacity 1A. Maximum recommended length

is approximately 100´ although shorter lengths will yield more reliable performance and distances up to

900´ are possible. Test your setup to ensure proper operation.

The Screw Connectors On The Sensor ID Boxes Are Volt-Free Contacts Only. Do Not Connect These Terminals To Any Live Circuit.

A Qualified Electrician Should Be Consulted To Test Any Wires You Connect To The Room Alert ID Box For The Presence Of Electrical

Voltages And If Any Are Detected, They Must Not Be Wired To The ID Box. The ID Box May Become Dangerous If You Connect It

To A Live Circuit. Never Connect Main Power To Any Of The Room Alert Sensors Unless Specifically Instructed To Do So Using The

AVTECH Software 5V Power Adapter. If Required, An AVTECH Software 5V Power Adapter Will Be Included With That Sensor.

DO NOT Use Switch Sensors In ‘Explosive’ Environments Unless Approved For Those Environments.
