How do I adjust pressure relief?

Inlets with “B” style relief: This relief is identified by a silver 0.875” [22.2mm] hex cap nut. Once the cap nut is

removed, the relief pressure can be adjusted using a 5/16” hex wrench. There are two springs available: a low pressure (p/n:
B505LP, 200-800psi [13.8-55.2bar]) and a regular spring (p/n: B505, 600 – 3500psi [41.4-241.3bar]). The regular spring is
identified by its square wire cross section. The factory relief setting will be stamped on the cap nut. Clockwise rotation of
the screw will increase the relief pressure.


Inlets with “C” style relief: This relief is identified by a black 1” [25.4mm] hex lock nut. Once the lock nut is

loosened, the relief can be adjusted using a 5/16” hex wrench. The factory relief setting will be stamped on the set screw.
The pressure range your valve will work best in will depend on which spring was installed, if your spring is:

White (p/n: P1279): 2400 - 3000psi [165.5-206.8bar]

Yellow (p/n: P1270): 1400 - 2500psi [96.5-172.4bar]

(Spring will have ~7.5 coils, cross section dia. ~ 0.119 [3.02mm])

Orange (p/n: P1270-360): 700 - 1400psi [48.3-96.5bar]

Yellow (p/n: DC7594): 300 - 700psi [20.7-48.3bar]

(Spring will have ~8.25 coils, cross section dia. ~ 0.090 [2.29mm])

Clockwise rotation of the screw will increase the relief pressure.

Mounting Surface – The valve must be mounted on a flat surface. It is important not to bend or twist the castings when
mounting because this may cause the valves to bind.

Can I paint my valve? – Painting valves is okay as long as the following precautions are taken: 1- All ports must be plugged
and 2- the spool must be masked or taped off completely. Any paint on the spool will cause leakage when it chips off.
Warranty is void if any valve is returned with paint on the spool.

How do I assemble the handle to the valve?
For “B” style handles:

The clevis (es) will already be attached to the valve(s). The handle attaches with the supplied pins and pin clips.
Standard position for the handle is for the handle knob to be facing above and away from the valve. “B” handles are
offered Bent, Straight, or Bent to 90

For “G” style handles:

The clevis (es) will already attached to the valve(s). The linkage bracket attaches with the supplied pins and pin
clips. Standard position for the linkage bracket is with the slotted hole attached to the spool. Standard position for
the handle is for the handle knob to be facing above and away from the valve.

For “Y” style handles:

The adjustable handle bracket will already be attached to the valve(s). Thread the knob, nut and handle rod to the
handle bracket. Loosen nut on handle bracket to adjust handle angle to preferred position.

For “L” style handles:

The enclosed handle cap will already be attached to the valve(s). Thread the knob, nut and handle rod to handle cap
adapter. Note: Handle rod can be attached for vertical or horizontal positioning.

For “A” style handles:

The “A” style handle can only be used for 2 adjacent valve sections. Two joysticks can be used next to each other,
but is not recommended because they may interfere with each other during operation. The linkage will already be
attached to the valve(s). The handle rod and knob are all that needs to be attached in the field.

What is the correct torque for the tie rod nuts?

The correct torque spec on the tie rod nuts is 85 inch pounds [9.6Nm]. Both nuts on each rod should be tightened at
the same time to prevent bind in the section.
