Note: Due to different configuration of the vehicle there will be extra hardware left over.
•
Using a small Philips tip screwdriver, unscrew plastic screws while applying pressure to the opposite end (3) places. Both
pieces of plastic need to be removed from support straps.
• Elantra and Rio 5 models: Trim center fascia tab. Obtain vehicle owner’s approval before cutting. See figure 2.
• Lower vehicle exhaust by removing rubber exhaust hanger.
• Lift hitch into position, passenger side first. Place crosstube over top of tail pipe, with the side bracket as far into space behind
wheel well, rotate into position on the outside of the frame rail. It will be necessary to pull the fascia gently out of the way. See
Figure 2.
• Raise the drivers side of the hitch into position on the outside of the frame rails and in front of bulkhead. Once again pull the
fascia gently out of the way. See Figure 2.
• Install fasteners as shown in Figure 1. Hand tighten fasteners.
• Push hitch toward the rear of the vehicle and tighten all fasteners.
• Reattach rubber muffler hanger.
• Reattach fascia tabs.

Tighten all M10 CL 8.8 fasteners with torque wrench to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M)
Tighten all M12 CL 8.8 fasteners with torque wrench to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M)
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5
and SAE J684.
