1. Lower muffler by sliding the rear (2) muffler hanger studs out of rubber isolators that hold muffler up. It helps to spray a lubricant
such as WD-40 to help remove studs out of isolators.
2. Fish wire carriage bolts and blocks with bolt leaders supplied through large access slots in frame as shown in diagram above.
Make sure that the 1/2” bolt and 1/2” bolt block is used on the Driver’s side forward hole.
3. Raise hitch into position, being careful not to push bolts back up into frame. Install 3/16” spacer blocks between hitch bracket
and vehicle frame both sides as shown.
4. Install conical washers and nuts as shown above. Again being sure to install 1/2” conical washer and 1/2” nut on 1/2” bolt on
driver’s side forward.
5. Tighten all fasteners with torque wrench. - 1/2” Gr. 5 fastener to 75 lb.ft. (102N*M)
- 7/16” Gr. 5 fasteners to 50 lb.ft. (68N*M).
6. Reinstall muffler hangers.

Nut-hex, 7/16” Qty. (3) Bolt-carriage, 7/16” -14 X 1-3/4” Gr 5 Qty. (3)
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

and SAE J684.
