FILTER

HEPA filters work, not by forcing the air through small
holes like a sieve, but by bending the air flow. The
particles, which don’t change direction as well as the
air, crash into the fibers and stick.

The fit of the filters in the filter chamber has a major influence on performance.

Poor fit seriously degrades efficiency by allowing unfiltered air to by-pass the filter.

Cracks in the folds of the filter will similarly affect filtration results.

The AllerA ir 9600 Series has the unique Pressure Seal to avoid leaks and the HEPA

is warm rolled to prevent cracking on the folds.

AllerAir air purifiers use HEPA material in Zig Zag
folds to increase the filter surface area.

HEPA material consists of fine synthetic fibers.

Extremely small particles (of molecular size) such
as viruses are dominated by Brownian motion rather
than gravity or inertia. This perpetual agitation
causes them to impact the fibers and stick.

Tests conducted in the 1960’s found that HEPA filters
could be 99.9999 % efficient for bacteria and 99.999%
efficient for viruses.
