INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: ONLY DO ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AT A TIME
Note: Springs will have a small hole in the end, these are for manufacturing and will not be used in the install
TORQUE TABLE
BOLT SIZE: 3/8” = 20-30 ft. lbs. – 7/16” = 35-45 ft. lbs. – 1/2” = 50-70 ft. lbs. – 9/16” = 90 ft. lbs.
1. From one side of the vehicle, remove the U-bolts from the axle and the stock leaf spring
pack and disconnect the brake line tab from the spring retainer.
2. Raise the vehicle by the frame to allow the factory leaf to separate from the axle.
3. Undo the factory center bolt and remove the bottom, thick overload leaf.
4. Bolt the spring retainer bracket in the countersunk hole on the fourth Hellwig leaf.
5. Assemble the Hellwig springs into two identical 5 leaf packs with the longest leaf on the top.
6. Slide the Hellwig leaves under the factory leaves with the retainer to the front and use the
included center bolt to hold them together as shown in Photos 1 and 2. Cut off the excess
center bolt once it is tightened.
7. Lower the vehicle back onto the axle making sure the center bolt head goes into the hole in
the axle spring perch.
8. Install new U-bolts with factory bump stops. Torque U-bolts.
9. Reattach the brake cable to the front retainer using the included self-tapping screws as
shown in Photo 3.
10. Repeat steps for the other side.
11. Check the torques on all the bolts and check for clearance between the spring and all under-
carriage components.
12. Test drive the vehicle and the recheck the installation. Recheck periodically thereafter.
