BIG BLOCK CHEVY MARINE

STAINLESS STEEL DIPSTICK

#22011

Milodon’s premium quality dipstick assembly is CNC machined from high-grade 304 stainless steel. It will resist corrosion in
most all environments. Once installed follow the correct marking instructions and your ready to go.

Initial Installation:

• Depending on the engine manufacturer and exhaust manifold style, the dipstick routing will vary. Most Mercruiser

installations will come forward and mount in front of the head. This is the typical routing this dipstick was designed to use.
It can also be routed to the side of the engine for Crusader and other engines that dump the exhaust to the rear.

• Clean the threaded receptacle in the pan of all oil residue with brake clean on a rag. Drop the Milodon supplied copper

washer into the receptacle. This will provide a positive seal. A small amount of silicone may be added to threads, but is not
required.

• Screw your new Milodon stick assembly into the oil pan receptacle and tighten securely.

• Attach the support tab to the front of the head or other preferred position. Braided steel dipstick tubing should be mounted

at least one inch from any significant heat sources. The Milodon dipstick can be gently bent around mounts and brackets as
needed, however avoid sharp bends that would inhibit stick movement through the tube.

The Milodon dipstick is premarked with Full and Add levels, however it is recommended that you calibrate the stick markings
precisely once installation is complete.

Calibration:

• To accurately calibrate your dipstick when used with Milodon 31560 and 31562 oil pans, with the engine sitting level fill

the empty crankcase with 11 quarts of oil

• At this time compare the oil level on your new Milodon stick to the “Add Level”. If it differs from the stick markings you

will need to remark the stick full level with a scribe to your observed level.

• Add one additional quart for the precise “Full Level” and compare this level on your Milodon dipstick. Again if it differs

from the stick markings you will need to remark the stick full level with a scribe to your observed level.

• Please remember that too much oil can be almost as bad as too little. We recommend calibrating the dipstick once installed

to achieve the precisely correct level markings.

Your installation is now complete.

Thanks for using Milodon.
