MOUNTING

1. Mounting structure must be capable of supporting the rated capacity of the pintle hook in accordance with SAE J847.
2. Use the 4 - 1/2" grade 8 bolts and torque to 100 ft. lbs.
3. For combination pintle hooks, torque ball locknut to 350 ft. lbs.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

PINTLE HOOK
1. Open latch by removing safety pin and lifting latch.
2. Position drawbar eye over the horn of the pintle and lower into place.
3. Close latch and insert safety pin.

BALL HITCH
1. Open latch by removing safety pin and lifting latch.
2. Replace safety pin in hole to retain latch in open position.
3. Position ball coupler over ball and lock into place, following coupler manufacturer's instructions.

WARNING:

- Other steps and inspections are required. Consult D.O.T. regulations and American Trucking Association for

complete coupling and uncoupling procedures.

- Be careful with the drawbar when coupling and uncoupling to avoid damaging the latch.
- Maintain adequate vertical (tongue) load to properly control the trailer (approximately 10%) not to exceed

above rated capacities.

-For off-road applications, reduce the rated capacities by 25 percent.
- When loading/unloading a trailer coupled to the tow vehicle, support the rear of the trailer to avoid load shifting.

MAINTENANCE

1. Clean and inspect for proper operation every 30,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.
2. Regularly lubricate latch and lock pivots with a light oil lubricant.
3. Periodically check all mounting bolts and ball locknut for proper torque.
4. Replace ball locknut if torque falls below 70 inch lbs. of torque required to thread onto ball shaft.
