Introduction

The indoor sensor is designed to sense the air temper-
ature at a remote location and send this information to
the thermostat. Once connected, the thermostat
responds only to the temperature sensed by the
indoor sensor(s) or by averaging the reading between
the thermostat and the remote sensor.

Installation of Indoor Sensor

1

1. Install the thermostat according to the instruction

manual supplied with it. Check that the thermostat
is operating. (Display shows the correct
temperature.) CAUTION: Remove the thermostat
from the subbase while wiring the sensor to
avoid damage from live wires. This is important.

1

2. Install shielded or nonshielded two wire twisted

cable from the thermostat to the remote sensor
location. Maximum distance is 330 ft. (100m).

1

3. Open the sensor case by grasping the side and

pulling the two halves apart.

1

4. Use the subbase as a template to mark the

mounting hole locations on the wall. Drill size for
the wall anchors is 1/4 inch. Mount the subbase
over the wires coming out of the wall using the two
screws and anchors provided. Do not use hex
head screws.

1

5. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation from the two wires at

the remote sensor. Install the wires in the
terminals. The wires can be connected with
either polarity.
Seal the hole in the wall around
the cable to eliminate any draft that might affect
the sensor.

1

6. Connect the wires on the thermostat subbase to

the sensor terminals. Again, the wires can be
connected with either polarity.
Connect the wires
to the terminal labeled “Indoor Sensor”.

1

7. Mount the thermostat on the subbase and check

to be sure that it is showing the temperature.

Temperature Averaging

When a remote indoor
sensor is connected to the
thermostat, the thermostat
will recognize the sensor.

light SENSOR SELECT.
Press SELECT.

Using the UP and DOWN
keys, select USE LOCAL
SENSOR, AVERAGE LOCAL/
REMOTE, or USE REMOTE
SENSOR.

If USE LOCAL SENSOR is chosen, the thermostat will
control the temperature sensed by the sensor built into the
thermostat.

If AVERAGE LOCAL/REMOTE is chosen, the thermostat will
control the temperature based on the average of the local
sensor and the remote sensor.

If USE REMOTE SENSOR is chosen, the thermostat will con-
trol the temperature sensed by the remote sensor.
