PROCEDURE:

1.

REMOVE CONTENTS FROM BOX. VERIFY ALL PARTS ARE PRESENT. READ
INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION.

2.

Open the rear door and remove the driver side screws holding the taillight.

3.

Grasp the taillight and pull out gently. NOTE: Be sure to pull straight out to avoid possible
damage. This is the same procedure required to change a burn out taillight in the assembly. For
more info see owner’s manual on replacing burn taillight bulbs.

4.

Disconnect the wire harness and set taillight aside. To determine the mounting location of the
Support Bracket, you will need to install the Support Bracket onto driver’s side Taillight Guard
using the included (1) 4mm x 12mm Phillips Screw, (1) 4mm Lock Washer, and (1) 4mm Flat
Washer. Proceed to install Taillight Guard assembly without the taillight onto vehicle using the
included (2) 6mm x 25mm Sheet Metal Screws and (2) 6mm Flat Washers (Figure 1).

5.

Use the hole in the Support Bracket as a template to mark the drilling location on the vehicle
(Figure 1). Once you have marked the drilling location, remove the Taillight Guard assembly and
set aside.

6.

Drill out the marked location using a 1/8” drill bit (Figure 2). IMPORTANT: Any cutting or drilling
tool may break or shatter. Government regulations require safety glasses & equipment at all times
when cutting or drilling.

7.

Attach the Support Bracket onto vehicle using the included #4 x 15mm Sheet Metal Screw.
IMPORTANT: Do not over tighten or a pull out may occur.

8.

Re-install the Taillight Guard assembly back to the vehicle using the hardware listed in step four.
(Figure 3). NOTE: If Mounting Brackets don’t fit properly, they can be adjusted to fit properly using
a pair of pliers. Make sure to protect the finish on the mounting tabs when adjusting.

9. Adjust Taillight Guard properly, and then tighten all hardware properly.
10. Repeat steps 2 – 9 for passenger side.
11. Do periodic inspections to the installation to make sure that all hardware is secure and tight.

To protect your investment, wax this product after installing. Regular waxing is recommended to add a
protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that could
damage the finish.
For stainless steel: Aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Mild
soap may be used also to clean the Sidebar.
For gloss black finishes: Mild soap may be used to clean the Taillight Guard.
