Dye-Lite

fluorescent leak detection dye is used in

conjunction with

ultraviolet and UV/blue

light lamps to pinpoint leak sources in cooling systems.

The dye glows brightly and will not compromise the

effectiveness of the coolant in the system.

Rite-Blend

Leak Detection Dye

For Extended Life Coolants

For best inspection results, use a high-intensity Tracerline

®

UV or UV/blue light lamp.

Wear protective glasses supplied with the inspection lamp. The dye will show best under

low light conditions.

Adding Dye and Inspecting for Leaks

• Turn OFF the engine.

Make sure the engine is cold before removing the radiator cap to add dye.

Use 1 ounce (30 ml) of dye for every 6 gallons (23 liters) of coolant.

• Run the engine and vehicle heater until they reach full operating temperatures so the dye circulates.

Smaller leaks may require longer run times.

• Turn OFF the engine. Scan the system with a Tracerline

®

high intensity inspection lamp. In hard to

reach areas, use a mirror to reflect the light. As an alternative, wipe suspected areas with a clean

cloth and check the cloth with the lamp for traces of the fluorescent dye. All leaks will show with a

bright fluorescent glow. A small amount of dye may be added to increase the glow. Additional dye

will not harm the system.

• After the leaks are repaired, clean the dye residue from the leak sites with Tracer Products’

GLO-AWAY™ dye cleaner/remover or a general-purpose shop cleaner. Reinspect with the lamp to be

sure that no dye remains. Run the engine for another 5 to 10 minutes and reinspect again.

• It is

not necessary to change the coolant after adding the tracer dye. When used properly, Dye-Lite

®

can remain safely in the vehicle until the coolant is changed.

CAUTION

Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight, heat sources and

open flame. Keep from freezing. May cause eye, skin and respiratory irritation.

Wash thoroughly after handling. Diluted dye cleans off with water and will not stain the

interior or exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Wipe all concentrated or undiluted dye spills

promptly. Concentrated dye may stain hands and clothing.
