An Intel® 2nd generation Core™ desktop processor is installed in the system. The Sandy

Bridge CPU interfaces with the H61 chipset through a Direct Media Interface (DMI) and a

Flexible Display Interface (FDI).

3.3 Mo th e rb o a rd Co m p o n e n ts

The following sections describe some of the features on the motherboard.

3.3.1 Me m o ry Ca pa c ity

Two 204-pin 1066/1333MHz dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMMs supported (system

max. 16GB) in the AFL2-17A/AB-H61 and controlled by the Intel® Core™ desktop

processor installed on the internal motherboard.

3.3.2 S to ra g e Ca pa c ity

The AFL2-17A/AB-H61 comes equipped with a 2.5” SATA 2.0 HDD drive bay which can

be easily accessed by removing two screws on the HDD cover.

3.4 Exte rn a l P e rip h e ra l In te rfa c e Co n n e c to rs

The following section describes the external peripheral interface connectors on the bottom

panel and left side panel of the system.

3.4.1 S e ria l P o rt Co n n e c to rs

The AFL2-17A/AB-H61 has three serial ports. COM1 and COM2 support only RS-232

serial communications. The other serial port (COM3) can be configured as an RS-422 or

RS-485 serial port. Enabling COM devices to be powered through the COM port

eliminates unnecessary and messy cabling.
