INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FOR CABLE TENSIONER #256133
This Cable Tensioner is designed specifically for the existing Ramsey Winch Model HD-P8000 w/ 6.5”
between drum flanges, purchased with a Level Winder and mounted to weldment 243046 (Refer to
owner’s manual).
NOTE:
Installation requires drilling of one 9/16” hole for clearance of cable tensioner mounting bolt.
PROCEDURE FOR DRILLING CLEARANCE HOLE
1. Remove existing level winder and all associated hardware.
2. Align Adapter (#350737) on existing level winder mounting (#243046).
3. Loosely attach Adapter with two 9/16” bolts, washers and nuts (#414628, #418232, & #418075).
4. Insert Tensioner Plate Weldment (#265106) through both 5/8” holes of the Tubing (#365072). Align
1/2” center hole in tubing with Adapter hole with Tensioner Plate centered on drum (the weld on
tensioner plate should be facing down.
5. Loosely attach Top Plate (#350734) to tubing and adapter with wide end towards drum using one
1/2” bolt, washer and nut (#414577, #418218, & #418069).
6. Place one 1/2” Bolt (#414519) through opposite hole on plate and align tubing.
7. With a rubber mallet, center drum by moving it all the way to one side. Then adjust it back half the
distance.
8. Center tensioner plate on drum and check adapter alignment. With alignment set, tighten 9/16”
adapter bolts to 55 ft-lbs.
9. Remove 1/2” bolt (#414519). With alignment unchanged, mark 9/16” through for drilling.
10. Remove kit except for adapter so it can be used as a drill guide.
11. Drill through top mounting.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. With adapter in place, reassemble tubing, tensioner plate and top plate. Use a 1/2” bolt, washer and
nut (#414519, #418218 & #418069) in the clearance hole drilled. Tighten to 55 ft-lbs.
2. Place two bolts through back of the top plate and tensioner plate. One spring at a time, slide on to
bolt and slightly compress. Apply a flat washer and nylon lock nut (#418223 & #418073). Tighten
nut approximately 3/4” or until one thread of bolt is exposed through the nut. Repeat to the other
side. Reference Figure 1 for assembly.
