Directions
1.
Disconnect electrical power to the heater.
2.
Turn off gas supply and disconnect gas supply line from heater.
3. Remove screws (

) holding doors (
B
) and remove doors.
4. Remove 16 screws holding cabinet to bottom assembly (
C), l
oosen screws holding cord set (
D
), remove zip ties,
and lift cabinet off bottom assembly (
E).
5. Disconnect flame sensor (
F
) and harness wires at all locations in heater. Note wire connections for re-assembly.
6. Remove bolt (
G
) holding burner/gas valve assembly. Lift gas valve and remove harness.
7. Remove gas valve assembly (
H
) for installation of new igniter/sensor bracket.
(
Note: Gas valve assembly is removed to prevent drill shavings from falling into orifice).
8. Drill out the 2 rivets holding the old igniter/sensor bracket (
I
) to burner. Remove old igniter/sensor bracket
from burner. Note: Two types of brackets are shown.
9. Carefully attach igniter to igniter bracket with V-clamp (
J
). Caution! Tighten nuts and screws until igniter is
snug. Igniter can be broken if V-clamp is too tight.
10. Attach sensor bracket assembly (
K
) to burner with pop rivets.
11. Attach igniter bracket assembly (
L
) to sensor bracket as shown.
12. Replace gas valve assembly (
H
). Tighten and secure gas valve in place using bolt (
G
).
13. Remove screws holding blower assembly and remove blower assembly (
M
).
14. Loosen set screws and remove blower wheel (
N
). Remove 4 nuts attaching plate to motor (
O)
and
remove plate.
15. Remove nuts from new motor and attach plate (
O
).
16. Replace blower wheel onto shaft of new motor (
N
). Important: Blower wheel must not touch plate.
Maintain 3.175 mm (1/8 inch) gap between plate and blower wheel.
17. Reinstall new blower assembly to heater (
M
).
18. Remove old control plate (
P
). Install new control plate.
19. Remove label from inside door of control box (
Q
). Apply the new label (
4501-1117
).
20. Install new harness, reconnect wires and flame sensor as noted in step 5.
Do not connect fasteners to harness until after applying plastic spiral wrap.
21. Wrap large plastic spiral wrap around the harness wires as shown (

). Connect fasteners.
22. Wrap small plastic spiral wrap around harness wires as shown (
S
). Connect fasteners.
23. Replace cabinet to bottom assembly (
E
) and reinstall screws (
C
). Tighten cord set screws (
D
).
24. Replace doors (
B
) and secure with screws (
A
).
25. Remove old label from side of heater (

). Apply new label (
4501-2991
) to heater.
26. Conversion complete.
