7.3 Changing the Network Number with a PC.

7.4 Tuning

Radios.

Tuning the radios to achieve best signal can be
done from a PC to PDA or PDA to PDA.
Normally the PC side will be connected first, and
then a PDA is used to determine the best
mounting location for the controller side of the
network. To tune the radios follow the steps
below.

Step 1. After computer side is connected, launch
wireless software either from the CD or after
Farm Manager has been loaded.
Step 2. Click on Tune Tab.
Step 3.

Set Tune Mode to Server (listen).

Step 4. Click on Listen for signal.
Step 5. Leave running and continue to the
controller side of the network.
Step 6. Connect PDA to Wireless as shown in Section 7.1.
Step 7. Hold the 900SS Radio by the bottom or temporary mount.
Do not obstruct antenna or front of unit.
Step 8. Turn PDA ON and Tap on Radio Setup Icon. See Section
7.2.
Step 9. Tap on Tune Radios. See Section 7.2.
Step 10. Tap Scan. The Signal Strength will be displayed.
Step 11. Watch signal for a couple of minutes to ensure that it
doesn’t drop. In most applications strength should hold at 90% to a
100%. If strength is low or drops at times, try mounting the radio
higher.
Step 12. Continue 900SS installation as shown in Section 6.2.
Note:
• If using two PDA's to check strength, set the first PDA to

listen. Set the second PDA to Scan. This will require two people.

• Recheck the signal strength once the radio is permanently mounted.
