DESCRIPTION
A clear acrylic tube with replaceable indicating desiccant, designed to attach to the
vent tube of vented RuggedCable™ stripped and tinned. Protects the device's cable
and electronics from condensation of water vapor in high-humidity environments.
The desiccant gradually turns from blue to pink as it becomes saturated with
moisture.

Material

Clear acrylic, nylon, HDPE membrane
(high density polyethylene)

Environmental rating

Weatherproof, not designed for submersion

Size

3.2 cm (1.25 in) O.D., 11.4 cm (4.5 in) long

Desiccant

approx. 22 g silica gel, type 4

INSTALLATION

1. Snip off the knot at the bottom of the vent tube extension.

2. Attach the vent tube extension firmly to the cable vent tube. Cover at least a

quarter-inch of the cable vent tube for a secure attachment.

3. Use the attached hook-and-loop strap to secure the desiccant to the cable,

below the stripped wires, as shown in the lower photo at left.

4. Remove the red dust cap from the desiccant pack to allow air to reach the cable's vent

tube.

GUIDELINES & PRECAUTIONS

Desiccant will absorb moisture from the top down and for best results should be
replaced before the entire volume has turned pink. Desiccant refill kits, Cat. No.
0029140, are available from In-Situ Inc. or your distributor.

Protect new desiccant from moisture until ready to use. The supplied dust cap
and the knot in the vent tube help to keep the desiccant dry.

Be sure to remove the dust cap before deployment to allow air to reach the cable's
vent tube.
