The phone alerts you in up to 3
ways when you receive a new
message:

message on the screen.

By sounding a sound or
vibration, if set.

By displaying . (The icon
will be when you get a
high priority message.)
Note
You can change the font size (to
small, normal or large) of the
received message using the side
Volume Keys.
