Installing the Nomadic Disk Manager

Installing the Nomadic Disk Manager

On both the primary node and backup node, install the independent product, Nomadic
Disk Manager:

1. Make sure that you have the required software:

Switch command interface (SWCI), used to communicate with the ServerNet
Nomadic Disk switch modules.

The DefineProcess product, a component of ViewPoint (Viewpoint, itself, is not
required). The DefineProcess directory, :UTILS:DP, must be in the #USELIST
of the TACL process.

2. Copy the files from the Nomadic Disk Manager independent product CD to one

subvolume.

3. Select that subvolume as the current subvolume. In this example, the subvolume is

$SYSTEM.NOMADIC.

> VOLUME $SYSTEM.NOMADIC

4. Type the following command to create the TACL segment file, NOMADSEG.

> OBEY CREATOR

5. Modify the TACLCSTM file belonging to the super ID to include statements similar

to those found in the sample TACLCSTM file included with the Nomadic Disk
Manager.

The sample file (shown in

Example 3-1

on page 3-4) includes statements for the

following:

:UTILS:DP is included in the #USELIST.

The NOMADSEG segment file is attached.

The :NOMAD directory is included in the #USELIST.

The default CONFIG^FILE is overridden. Using the CONFIG^FILE is explained
in

Configuring the Nomadic Disk Manager on page 3-4

.

Caution.

The Nomadic Disk Manager subvolume must be on a volume that is not Nomadic.

This version of the Nomadic Disk Manager is supported only on NonStop S-series servers.
