Viewing TNS/E and TNS Instruction Sequences

The ICODE command displays instruction sequences in a TNS object file previously
opened using the OPEN command. When you specify a starting address, TNSVU
displays both TNS/E and corresponding TNS instructions. You do not need to specify
the address of an exact point because TNSVU backs up to the previous exact point to
find the correspondence between TNS/E and TNS instructions. If you specify a starting
point, TNSVU displays both TNS and TNS/E instructions unless you specify a local
millicode routine that contains only TNS/E instructions.

If you invoke ICODE without a TNS or TNS/E starting address or procedure name, the
program displays the entire file up to 6400 TNS/E bytes (or 400 bundles). You must
request to view specific information for larger files. To view an entire procedure
regardless of length, type in the procedure name at the TNSVU prompt. TNSVU does
not print past the end of the procedure it began on, even if the for-clause option is set
to do so.

The I command is a synonym for the ICODE command.

hex-num

is a hexadecimal number representing the TNS/E address of the first instruction in
the sequence the user wants to view. hex-num is prefixed by “0x” or “0X”. The
hexadecimal numbers “a”, “b,”, “c”, “d”, “e”, and “f” can appear in uppercase or
lowercase. TNSVU displays TNS/E instructions back to the previous exact point.

for-clause

is a hexadecimal or octal number that instructs TNSVU to display a specified
number of instructions. If you specify a hexadecimal number, TNSVU interprets
this number as the number of TNS/E bundles to display. If you specify an octal
number, TNSVU interprets this number as the approximate number of TNS
instructions to display. TNSVU can print extra instructions in order to start and
