Hot Plug RAID Memory

The HP memory RAID technology stands for Redundant Array of Industry-Standard
DIMMs. The ProLiant DL760 G2 server supports up to 40 GB of Hot Plug RAID
Memory. The DIMMs are installed in five Hot Plug RAID Memory cartridges. HP
Hot Plug RAID Memory allows for the following service and management features
to occur while the server is running:

• Memory hot-replace—Allows the replacement of failed DIMMs. This feature is

built into the hardware, is operating system independent, and requires no drivers.

• Memory hot-add—Allows the addition of extra banks of memory without

powering down the server. This feature requires operating system support and HP
drivers.

• Memory hot-upgrade—Allows the upgrade of existing DIMMs with

larger-capacity DIMMs without powering down the server. This feature requires
operating system support and HP drivers.

The Hot Plug RAID Memory cartridges are located on the front right side of the
processor and memory module (1). Each memory cartridge contains up to eight
DIMMs. Each cartridge has a protective cover, a rack-and-pinion self-aligning lever,
and a latch and lock.
