Certain files from the SMM CD must be transferred. To select these files, click the
“Browse files” button on the bottom right of the FTP window. When the Open
window appears, select the drive for the CD-ROM. The SMM CD has a directory file
called Tandem Server. Select all the files in this directory, and click the “Open”
button. By selecting the first file, holding the shift key and pushing the down arrow
key at the same time, all the files can be selected at once. Refer to Figure 2-4 to see
the Tandem Server Files.

The files are now ready to be transferred. Click on the FTP button on the bottom left of
the FTP window. This will transfer all the files from the Tandem Server directory of
the SMM CD. When the file transfer has been completed, minimize the SMM screen.

2.5 Configuring the Server on the Tandem Host

At the TACL Prompt, logon as SUPER.SUPER. Once the log on has been completed,
volume over to the location where the Server files were transferred.

Test to see if the device is communicating. At the TACL prompt, type “RUN
TPTSTR” and press enter. (Please view example in Appendix D for correct display
of information).
The next prompt to be received will be a SCSI prompt. When the
next prompt is received, type “OPEN <scsi name of device>” and enter. Now an
inquiry on the device can be done. At the prompt, type “INQUIRY”. Next, the unit
will be tested. At the prompt, type “TESTUNIT_READY”. At the next prompt, stop
the process by typing “EXIT”. If any errors besides Sense Length errors occur, notify
the Systems Manager about a device problem.
