Troubleshooting using real-time performance data from XP and XP7 disk
arrays

This chapter discusses troubleshooting issues for disk array components using the real-time charting
feature in HP XP7 Performance Advisor.

Introduction

HP

XP7 Performance Advisor does real-time monitoring of the XP/XP7 disk arrays, where

performance

data is collected for intervals as low as few seconds (approximately, five seconds

per

component). The real-time data is collected through the following HP XP7 Performance Advisor

host

agents that support the real-time performance data collection:

Windows hosts

Linux hosts

Solaris hosts

HP-UX hosts

AIX hosts

OpenVMS Integrity (IA-64) hosts

When you perform the host agent installation, the real-time server is also automatically installed
on the host agent. For more information on the host agent installation, refer to the HP XP7
Performance Advisor Software Installation Guide

for a set of five LDEVs, RAID groups, ports, cache, CHAs, and DKAs in an XP disk array. Similarly,
