Battery bay

Holds the battery and subscriber identity module (SIM).

(2)

SIM slot

Contains a wireless subscriber identity module (SIM) (select
models only). The SIM slot is located inside the battery bay.

Vents (5)

Enable airflow to cool internal components.

NOTE:

The computer fan starts up automatically to cool internal

components and prevent overheating. It is normal for the internal
fan to cycle on and off during routine operation.

Hard drive bay

Holds the hard drive, memory module slots, WLAN module
(select models only), and WWAN module (select models only).

(5)

Docking connector

Connects an optional docking device.

(6)

Charge level indicator

Displays the approximate remaining battery charge.

(7)

Battery release latch

Releases the battery from the battery bay.

(8)

Accessory battery connector

Connects an optional accessory battery.

(9)

Accessory battery connector door

Slides open to expose the accessory battery connector.
