The configuration shown in

Figure 17

on page 36 is an example of a volume that is functioning as both

a Business Copy S-VOL and a Continuous Access Journal P-VOL. This configuration allows you to use

Continuous Access Journal to provide remote copies of Business Copy S-VOLs.

Note:

In the configuration shown in

Figure 17

on page 36, you cannot perform the Business Copy and

Continuous Access Journal copy operations at the same time. In

Figure 17

on page 36, first you need to

create and split the Business Copy pair, then create the Continuous Access Journal pair. To resynchronize

the Business Copy pair, suspend the Continuous Access Journal pair beforehand. Note that you cannot

change the Continuous Access Journal pair status while the Business Copy pair is in PSUS(SP) status.

Continuous Access and Continuous Access Journal

Although Continuous Access and Continuous Access Journal can each share volumes with Business Copy,

they cannot share Business Copy volumes in some combinations.
The configuration shown in

Figure 18

on page 37 is an example of a volume functioning as both a

Continuous Access Journal S-VOL and a Continuous Access P-VOL. In this configuration, you cannot use

this volume as the P-VOL of a Business Copy pair.
