Passthrough Mode (Inputs A – B)

Devices can also be placed into Passthrough mode. Passthrough Mode allows an UDM-RC02 Remote
Control (or SKY or SKY+ remotes) to be used to control TV channels being viewed through the
UDM-0102 or devices connected to the UDM-0102 such as a DVD player.

The following steps must be taken if Passthrough Mode is to function correctly;

1.

The device must be added to the system as an Input.

2.

The device must be added to the system (as a Device) on the Devices page and be assigned its
learned protocol.

3.

An IR blaster connected to the correct IR port at the rear of the UDM-0102 must be connected to the
device.

4.

The port must be configured for Passthrough Mode (see below).

Configuring a Device for Passthrough Mode

The device needs to be added to the system as both an Input and as a Device on the Devices page:

1.

Cable the device as an input coming into the rear of the chassis (e.g. into Input A for a normal
input).

2.

Add the device as an input in the Inputs option. See Input Configuration section on page 22.

3.

Learn the device’s protocol using IR Learning – refer to the Creating a Serial Protocol section on
page 49.

4.

Add the device into the Devices option as normal and assign it its IR protocol.

5.

The device has now been added as an Input and as a Device.

Configuring a Port for Passthrough Mode

To configure a port to access a device in Passthrough Mode:

1.

Select the Control option from the options at the top of the Status page to access the Control page
(see FIG. 26 on page 25).

2.

In the Control page, click on the User control link for the correct port to invoke the User Control
page
(see FIG. 30 on page 28).

3.

Select the Remote (control) type which will be used to put the device into Passthrough mode from
the Remote Type drop-down (FIG. 33).

4.

Click on the Passthrough checkbox to the right of the key dedicated to the input. This will enable
the user to have passthrough control of the source device for any learned functions.

Ensure the relevant IR blaster port is cabled up to the device. For example, if the
device is connected to Input A, cable IR port 1 to the device, if connected to Input B
then cable IR port 2 to the device.
