Collapsible Underdash Mount Installation Instructions

For Part Number’s 2301410010, 2301310010

Instruction #: 8000010250

REV 12/12

This dash mount is specifically designed for the ididit
collapsible series of steering columns. It is critical to
the system that these mounts have all fasteners torqued
to the correct specifications. It is equally important that
this item is not soaked in any corrosive materials i.e. rust
removers or solvents.

A well supported underdash mount is necessary. In
order for this mount to be functional it MUST be bolted
to a structural support capable of sustaining 750 Lb.
force toward the driver’s chest. ididit recommends 1”
square tubing that is soundly connected to the door post.
This mount must also face forward on the solid side.
(See Example 1: Figure A FRONT) Two 3/8 grade 5
bolts and washers should be used to secure the mount
to the dash. (Bolts & washers are included in the kit)
The washers should be against the aluminum release
blocks. These bolts should be torqued to 42 Ft. Lbs.

(See

Example 2)

Once the upper mount is affixed to a safe and solid place
inside of your vehicle it is now time to install the steering
column to your mount. The circular center of the mount
is where your column will slide through. Separate the
two pieces of the mount and simply slide your column
through the hole. Make sure your column placement is
correct before tightening these bolts. Once the steering
column is secured to your dash there is a very good
chance if you move the column you will damage the
finish. These bolts should be tightened to 22 Ft. Lbs. of
torque.

(See Example 3)

NOTE 1: This mount can be mounted with the column
above or below the plate.

NOTE 2: Care should be taken to make sure the mount
and column head can move forward 1 ½ inches without
any interference. (Column disengagement)
