Hands on information

Insert geometry:
Use sharp and positive inserts with a
chip forming capacity.

Insert grade:
Choose a small edge rounding (ER).
Go from a thick coating to a thin one,
if necessary use uncoated inserts.

Entering angle:
The smaller the entering angle, the
thinner the chip will be and the
further it will spread along the cutting
edge.

This will allow a higher feed per

tooth. Also a smaller entering angle
will direct more of the cutting force in
axial direction and reduce the risk of
vibration.
