Isolated Extension Cable Operation and LEDs
Behavior of UPS
End LEDs
When illuminated yellow, the UPS ON and UPS OFF LED s
on the UPS End Unit indicate that the UPS is being momen-
tarily commanded to turn its output on or off.
Note: These indicators do not reflect the current state of
the UPS .
Normal
operation:
Smart-Signaling
UPSs
Under normal operation with an APC UPS that uses Smart
Signaling— Smart-UPS ® , Matrix- UPS
™ , or Symmetra ™
PowerArray ™ — only the RXD/AC FAIL LED on the Server
End Unit and the DATA LED on the UPS End Unit flicker;
no other LED s illuminate.
Normal
operation:
Simple-Signaling
UPSs
Under normal operation with an APC UPS that uses Simple
Signaling— Back- UPS
®
— no LED s on either unit will illu-
minate. To test the Isolated Extension Cable connected to a
Back-
UPS :
1 Put the UPS into an AC Fail condition. (See the
user manual supplied with your UPS .)
2 Observe that the RXD/AC FAIL LED on the Server
End Unit turns green, indicating that the UPS is on
battery.
