Cleaning Instructions:

Vinyl Covers - Wipe Clean with soap and

water or disinfectant.

Brushed Polyester Covers - Remove outside

cover and machine wash

(gentle cycle) in warm water;

tumble dry low.

Vinyl Covered Inner

bead filled pillows - Wipe Clean with

soap and water or disinfectant. DO NOT use

cleaners that contain Phenol or Benzyl.

Disposal

Properly dispose of the product per facility’s

policy for BIOHAZARDOUS materials.

Storage and Handling

This device is designed for use in normal indoor

environments. This device may be stored in ambient

warehouse temperatures at normal humidity levels. Avoid

excess moisture or high humidity that may damage product

materials.

The Posey Bedfellow Positioning Rolls are designed to provide full body support

in both lateral and supine positions. The Bedfellow is constructed of three inner

pillows covered in a wipe clean vinyl. The outer cover is available in machine

washable brushed polyester, or wipe clean vinyl.

Product Features:

• Three pillow construction allows the Bedfellow Positioning Roll to bend and

fit the contours of the body.

• Center pillow rolls out to provide a headrest or lumbar support.

• Nylon ties easily secure the center pillow into position and help prevent

sliding from under the head.

• Front button secures the Bedfellow Positioning Roll around the patient to

maintain positioning.

• Side support to help protect ribs and for positioning the patient in a chair.

• Helps prevent leaning or falling to the side.

• Can be used as an alternative to side rails.

• Meets CA #117, Section E Flame Retardancy Standards.

Application Instructions:

NOTE: Inspect product prior to use. DO NOT use soiled or damaged products.

Supine Positioning

1. Position the patient as desired.

2. Unzip the cover and pull out the center (or head) pillow. Re-zip the cover.

3. Place the Bedfellow Positioning Roll around the patient, placing the center pillow

under the head and the end pillow along both sides of the patient (Fig. 1).

4. Ensure that the patient is not experiencing any discomfort.

5. Monitor the patient at least every two hours for skin irritation and/or

pressure points. Reposition the patient as necessary.

Lateral Positioning In Bed

1. Roll the patient on his/her side. Position the patient as desired.

2. Option A -Place the Bedfellow Positioning Roll parallel and in front of the

patient. One end cushion can be used as a pillow and the other end as an

abduction pillow (Fig. 2).

Option B –Unzip the cover and remove the center pillow. Place the center

pillow behind the lower back of the patient. Place the end pillows in front

of the patient, positioning one end pillow under the head and the other

end pillow as an abduction pillow (Fig. 3).

3. Ensure that the patient is not experiencing any discomfort.

4. Monitor the patient at least every two hours for skin irritation and/or

pressure points. Reposition the patient as necessary.

Wheelchair and Geri-chair Positioning

1. Position the patient as desired.

2. Unzip the cover and pull out the center (or head) pillow. Re-zip the cover.

3. Place the Bedfellow Positioning Roll around the patient, placing the center pillow

under the head and the end pillow along both sides of the patient. (Fig. 4).

4. Secure the front button to maintain the Bedfellow in position and to

prevent it from falling out of the chair.

5. Ensure that the patient is not experiencing any discomfort.

6. Monitor the patient at least every two hours for skin irritation and/or

pressure points. Reposition the patient as necessary.

Monitoring

This device is not a substitute for side rails or other protective

devices for patients at risk of injury from falls due to unassisted bed or chair

exit.

ALWAYS follow your facility’s policies and procedures for patient

assessment, monitoring and rehabilitation.
