POSEY ECONOMY SMOKER’S APRON

Constructed from fabric woven from fiberglass and finished on both sides

with a Silicone based coating. It will remain flame retardant after repeated

cleaning. Light gray fabric.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:

• Do Not launder. Wipe Clean with mild detergent. OSHA approved

intermediate level disinfectants can be used per manufacturer instructions.

• After cleaning, products MUST be rinsed with water to remove any

residual chemicals.

• Make sure products are completely dry before use.

POSEY PREMIUM SMOKER’S APRON

Constructed from a high quality, breathable fabric woven from Nomex® and

Kevlar® fibers and is inherently flame retardant. It is completely launderable

and will always remain flame retardant throughout its life. Navy blue fabric.

WAShING INSTRUCTIONS:

The Posey Premium Smoker’s Apron can be laundered as follows: NON-CONTAMINATED

aprons can be washed in lukewarm water (100°F / 38°C), without bleach, and dried under

low heat in order to maintain color brightness and product longevity. Posey

recommends washing CONTAMINATED aprons in hot water (160°F / 71°C) and cleaning

per the “CDC Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control in Healthcare Facilities”

(HICPAC). MMWR 2003; 52 (No. RR-10) page 27. This procedure may cause color to fade.

DISPOSAL

Properly dispose of the product per facility’s policy for BIOHAZARDOUS

materials.
STORAGE AND hANDLING

This device is designed for use in normal indoor environments. This device may be

stored in ambient warehouse temperatures at normal humidity levels. Avoid excess

moisture or high humidity that may damage product materials.

INSPECTION

Inspect before each use: check for broken stitches or parts; torn, cut or

frayed material; or buckles that do not hold securely. DO NOT use soiled or dam-

aged products.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS (ALL APRONS):

1. Comfortably secure the apron around the resident’s neck with the quick-release

buckle and adjust the neck strap so that the top of the apron rides above the

resident’s chest and covers the individual’s clothing.

2. Tie the upper set of securing straps behind the individual’s shoulders.
3. Tie the lower set of straps around the individual’s lower torso.
4. The straps can be trimmed in length if desired.

Make sure the patient cannot slide

down or fall off the chair seat and become

entrapped by the Smoker’s Apron. If their body

becomes suspended by the apron, suffocation

could result.

This apron is not a substitute for

proper supervision and all patients or residents

should ALWAyS be closely supervised while

smoking. Peripheral materials used in the

construction of the apron such as the threading,

straps and labels, represent less than 1% of the

product. They Do Not offer the same level of

flame resistance and pose only a remote risk of

fire hazard.

Seating and PoSitioning

Posey Smoker’s Aprons cover a seated smoker and help prevent accidental burns to the

skin and/or clothing. Hot ashes and lit cigarettes will not burn through the fabric,

however, they may scorch the fabrics or leave a burn mark on the surface. These Smoker’s

Aprons can be used in a variety of applications with individuals in wheelchairs, geri-

chairs, dining room chairs, etc. The aprons are reversible, with no front or back for

extended life.
