1.4.2 Editing Shortcuts and Keyboard Options

To improve the processing speed of the operator, several keyboard shortcuts and options
are available.

Shortcut Keys

Ctrl-O: file open

Page Up/Down: display next, previous ping block

Home/End: display start/end of pings

CTRL (hold key): allows the user to make multiple selections

CTRL (mouse click): not only allows adding individual soundings to the list of
selected soundings, if you CTRL-click on a selected sounding, it de-selects it

ALT (hold key): reverse selection, selects points outside rectangle

Esc: clear selection, can also click in an unpopulated area of view

Delete: shortcut for the Apply button.

Ctrl-S: export/save edits

Built into the selection process is the ability to refine a group of selected soundings.
Doing a selection rectangle and then doing an *intersecting* selection rectangle (no
modifier keys) refines the selection. You can refine the existing selection as many times
as you want through intersecting selection rectangles.

1.4.3 Saving Edits

When finished editing a file, select the Save button in the control panel. For XTF files,
the first time edits are saved a new subdirectory will be created (if not already there) in
the XTF data folder called “edts”.

The edits will be written into a file which will automatically be named the same as the
edited file with an “_#” at the end. The first time the file is edited the number will be
zero and will increment for each time edits are saved for that file. For GSF files, the
edits will be written to the GSF file as changes to the beam flags.
