Special safety instructions

Read and follow all these instructions before using the hand torch. It is advisable to keep it in
order to get to know it well. ROTHENBERGER has the right of technical modification without
notice.
ROTHENBERGER torches have a 12 month guarantee beginning on the date of supply to the

user. (Invoice receipt or delivery note). The torch can only be dismantled or manipulated by
qualified personnel. In case of reparation, ROTHENBERGER original spare parts are to be used.
Operation failures owing to product fault will be costless repaired. Damages produced by fair
wear and tear and inadequate handling are not included in the guarantee. In case of
manipulation of torches or spare parts by non-authorized personnel, it means the cancellation

of the guarantee. Freight expenses are always to be paid by the user.
Introductions concerning use and safety are not offered as a substitute to professional or
national regulations.
Components and operator controls:
Any kind of acetylene bottle can be used. The gas bottle must always be in vertical position
and away from any heat source.

Always use the torch in spacious and well ventilated places.
Do not use the flame before having checked the connections. Use soapy water or similar. Do
not ever leave burners nearby flammable materials or the feeding hose: They can burn!
Whenever both, torch and gas bottle, are transported together, make sure that all valves are
closed and there is no gas inside the torch circuit.

Keep the cartridges and oxygen tanks away from ignition sources.
Do not smoke when working near the tanks.

Check the screw joints tightness using foaming substances (e.g., soapy water,
leak detection spray).

Operational

description

A

Preparation:
A pressure reducer, adequate to the gas pressure in use (0,5-1,5 bar), must be installed. In
order to connect torch and pressure reducer or gas bottle, it is necessary the use of a certified

rubber hose adjusted to the working pressure of the gas, according to present regulation.
Use a counter tool for connecting handle (pos. 3) and hose (pos. 4) to assure a leak-proof
bond! Make sure that both parts are correctly fixed (counter clockwise). Stop valve (pos. 1)
and fine adjustment valve (pos. 2) have to be closed (clockwise, as indicated on the valve).
Activation:
Open stop valve (pos. 1). Open fine adjustment valve (pos. 2). Do not press the valve (flame
might change colour or even burn off)! Switch on the pilot flame by using a lighter or similar,
and regulate it with the fine adjustment valve. Pressing the economy trigger (pos. 5) makes it
possible to work at maximum flame power.
In case the flame would

- uneven gas leaks
- flashback or
- clogging of the nozzle (flame burns blue but not yellow)
