installing or replacing the carbon element

The Carbon Filter Kit contains the Carbon Element. Unwrap the

Carbon Element before installing into the Carbon Housing.

note: remove the plastic wrap from the carbon element

before use. make sure the end seal gaskets are in place on

both ends of the carbon element and not retained in the

packaging.

1. Unscrew the Carbon Housing counterclockwise to remove

the housing from the Carbon Element Head.

2. Inspect the O-ring on the Carbon Housing and replace if it

is cracked, twisted, or missing.

3. The O-ring is pre-lubricated at the factory, however it can

be lubricated with an approved food grade lubricant if

needed. Install the O-ring onto the Carbon Housing.

4. Place the Carbon Element into the Carbon Housing.

note: make sure the end seal gaskets are in place on

botH ends of the carbon element. the gasket is retained

on the end of the carbon element in the recessed groove.

be careful that the gasket does not fall off when placing the

carbon element into the carbon Housing.

5. Screw the Carbon Housing containing the new Carbon

Element into the Carbon Element Head. Tighten the hous-

ing until it stops. The housing will come to a hard stop at

the end of the thread. Use a Filter Wrench if necessary.

maintaining the system

rinSinG tHe carbon element
The newly installed Carbon Element must be rinsed before

returning the system to operation.

note: Direct the system outlet to a drain during this pro-

cess. Do not use the water resulting from rinsing process.

1. Direct water from the outlet to a drain.

2. Turn on the water to the system. Allow water to flow

through the Carbon Element and Carbon Housing to flush

out trapped air and any carbon fines that may be pres-

ent. To help remove trapped air from the housing, press

and hold the Red Pressure Relief Button on the top of the

housing until water just begins to come out the button.

Release the button. See Figures 2 and 3.

3. Allow the Carbon Element to rinse for at least 5 minutes.

note: Do not consume the water used for rinsing the

carbon element.

4. After 5 minutes of rinsing, shut off the water to the system

and redirect the water to service.

Refer to the section on page 2 for information about sanitizing

the system and lines.

returninG SYStem to operation
After making the connection to the outlet of the system, open

a faucet or tap downstream to the Carbon Filter Kit . Allow the

pipe to flush to remove any debris.

The system is now ready for use.
