Upon receipt of fixture and accessories (packed
separately) thoroughly inspect for any freight damage
which should be brought to the attention of the delivery
carrier. Compare the catalog description listed on the
packing slip with the fixture label on the outside of the
ballast box to be sure you have received the correct
merchandise.

Prior to Installation: Read carefully before installing light fixtures. If you do not
understand these instructions, please contact your local American Electric Lighting
representative before installing.

1. Mounting

Mount the yoke to the desired bracket by using the 5/8” hex head bolt, lock
washer, and nut (provided). Tighten to 30 ft.-lbs. If the ASP is to be mounted
inverted, remove the 1/4” bolt at the vertical degree aiming scale, loosen the 1/2”
yoke bolts. Tighten to 30 ft.-lbs.

2. Ensure that the four 1/4” x 1/2” bolts in the reflector arm are backed out

approximately 1/4”.

3. Remove the 1/4” bolt from the center of the junction box
4. Mounting the reflector

Fit the keyhole slots in the reflector over the bolts in the reflector mounting arm,
and slide into place. The keyhole slots will hold the reflector in place. Install the
1/4” bolt through the center of the reflector and into the junction box. Tighten all
five bolts.

5. Lamp installation

Prior to installing the lamp (not included) in the fixture, check to make sure the
lamp is the correct source and wattage. Screw the lamp securely into the socket,
back it out one or two turns, and tighten it securely again. This procedure properly
seats the lamp in the socket.

6. Install the lens (if the lens is not factory installed)

Remove bolt securing lens trim ring. Reinstall bolt through the lens trim ring and
reflector hinge bracket. Secure nut back onto bolt.

7. Make the supply connections

• Use proper cable with cable bushing provided.
• Make supply connections through wire entry hole.
• Hinge ballast box onto junction box, and tighten 1/4” captive bolt.

8. Simple Aiming Device

A simple aiming device is included to assist in positioning luminaire. It should be
attached with the #8 machine screw to the reflector mounting arm. Both the
simple aiming device and the #8 machine screw are provided in the hardware
bag.

NOTE: On the 120V and 277V systems, connect voltage supply lead to fixture lead
marked with voltage marker, then connect the neutral supply lead to fixture marked
COM. On other voltage systems, connect one supply lead to fixture lead marked with
proper voltage and connect other supply lead to fixture lead marked COM. On multiple
voltage fixtures, insulate all unused fixture leads individually.

(For your protection, read carefully)
• This fixture must be wired in accordance with the National

Electrical Code and applicable local codes and ordinances.

• Proper grounding is required.
• Use approved connectors for all electrical connections.
• Be certain the green lead from the fixture is secured to

ground.

• ALL work should be performed by a qualified electrician.

WARNING — Recheck to be sure proper fixture voltage lead
has been selected to match the supply voltage before
energizing. Improper wiring may result in ballast failure and
void all warranties. NEVER disconnect any component while
power supply is engaged.

CAUTION — Observe lamp manufacturer’s recommendations
and restrictions on lamp operations, particularly ballast type,
burning position, etc.

MAINTENANCE — Your fixture is designed for years of
trouble-free operation. For optimum performance, periodically
clean reflector and lens with a soft, damp cloth. IMPORTANT:
DO NOT use abrasive materials, glass cleaner or other
solvents on lens or paint. Use only mild, soapy water.

TROUBLESHOOTING — If this fixture fails to operate
properly, check to make sure:

• The correct lamp is properly installed.
• The fixture is wired correctly.
• The lamp is not faulty.
• The fixture is grounded correctly.
• The line voltage at the fixture is correct.

If all these variables have been checked and the fixture still
does not operate as specified, contact your local American
Electric Lighting representative.
