PAIR BLOCK-OFF INSTRUCTIONS FOR YAMAHA FZ-09 (14-)

The PAIR block-off cap is used to block off emissions (PAIR) to help prevent ‘deceleration pop’ and
also prevents ram-air pressure loss from the air box after blocking the PAIR. It will be necessary to
remove the fuel tank to access the PAIR valve hose. Refer to a factory service manual for more
detailed information.

1. Remove the seat, the fuel tank cover, and then remove the fuel tank to fully

access the air box.

2. Locate the PAIR valve hose on the left side of the air box, shown in (Figure 1).
3. Using a pair of pliers squeeze the clamp on the hose and pull it down.
4. Pull the hose off of the air box port and press the cap one (1) inch into the

hose. Wet the cap a little with Windex or WD-40 and use a 3/8” drive extension
or sharpie marker to push it in (Figure 2).

5. Push the hose back onto the port on the air box and secure with clamp.
6. Reinstall fuel tank, tank cover, and seat.
