ALL AMERICAN MADE

TAPER-LITE adjustable pushrods, the log-
ical choice for replacing OEM non-
adjustable pushrods for years of trouble
free high performance service. TAPER-
LITE

pushrods are designed to be

installed and uninstalled without remov-
ing the gas tank, rocker box assemblies,
or cam-cover. Taper-Lite pushrods can be
quickly & easily installed by following
these instructions. Taper-Lite pushrods
are manufactured from 4130 steel alloy
with hardened ball-ends & a 3/8"X40 air-
craft quality adjuster screw. One com-
plete turn of the adjuster screw gives
.025" of linear travel. The tapered
pushrod shape eliminates "flexing" under
extreme valve spring loads. To obtain
100% perfect valve-train geometry use

"Rocker-Arm

Geometry Kit" available from your local
dealer.

1) Remove battery ground cable, tape & insulate
the connector end ensuring no contact with the
battery is possible.

2) Remove both spark plugs.

3) When using a lift, make sure the bike is secure-
ly fastened in place. Lift frame with a jack allowing
rear wheel to be rotated.

4) Remove the push rod clip lift the tubes up to
access the pushrods.

5) Shift the transmission into high gear. Rotate the
rear wheel until the 2 front cylinder pushrods are
at their lowest position, and spin freely.

6) Shorten two Taper-Lite pushrods for installa-
tion. Install into the front cylinder pushrod loca-
tions. Extend both adjusters until the pushrods
are just snug. Ensure that the pushrods ends
are located correctly in the lifter (bottom) and
rocker-arm (top). Turn the lock-nut until it touch-
es the bottom of the pushrod body. Using a

7/16" end wrench, hold the adjuster nut, & use a
5/16" end wrench to spin the pushrod tube
exactly 4 revolutions. Each COMPLETE (360
degrees) revolution gives .025" of movement.

After adjusting both pushrods, spin the lock

nut up against the tube and lock in place. Allow
10-15 minutes for the lifters to bleed off (if they
are in a pumped up condition) or wait until the
pushrod can be spun with the fingers.

DO NOT ROTATE THE MOTOR UNTIL THE
LIFTERS HAVE BLED OFF OR EXPENSIVE
MOTOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR!!

REPEAT THE PRECEEDING PROCEDURE

FOR THE REAR CYLINDER

7) When all 4 pushrods have been installed, check
the 4 locking nuts for tightness. Close the pushrod
covers and re-install the locking clips. Install the
spark plugs, & attach the battery cable. Start the
motorcycle and check for oil leaks.
