Installation Instructions
for the
ART™ Hydraulic Clutch Actuator with Kicker
Part # 1215-0027
The ART™ cover fits 1937-1984 4 speed Big Twin transmissions and is meant to replace
the stock cable actuated clutch release end cover with or withiout a kicker arm. In some
applications such as FLH models, it may be neccesary to change the battery box and ex-
haust to adequately fit a kicker.
It will be neccesary to remove the oil slinger on the end of the mainshaft pushrod and the later style wafer throwout bear-
ing must be used with the right pushrod for that style throw-out bearing.
Install shaft,
Before installing
cover be sure that
the piston is fully
seated in bore.
Place gasket on trans-
mission then install the
ART™ cover with 9
supplied bolts after
making sure that the
kicker gear is properly
engaged.
Install hydraulic line from master cylinder to cover making sure all fittings are properly seated and torqued to avoid air
leaks. (Banjo bolt 3/8” X 24).
Before bleeding turn clutch adjusting screw (left side of motorcycle on clutch) clockwise unitl it is lightly seated and then
back the adjusting screw off 1/4 turn. Now bleed the system,
(Your new ART cover is supplied with a Speed Bleeder™ which does not allow reverse bleed).
NOTE: FILL TRANSMISSION WITH THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF GEAR LUBE BEFORE
OPERATING THE VEHICLE!

Be sure to line up the
kicker gear stop pin
with the transmission
stop plate.
Remove existing cover
and studs or bolts.
ASSEMBLE ART COVER
Install kicker gear.
Install locking
washer.
Install nut and
torque to 50-60 ft.
lbs..
Install spring
stop with thin
washer using
one drop of blue
thread lock.
Prior to in-
stalling, apply
assembly lube
to shaft.
Check for proper
throw-out bearing
placement.
